Welcome to Homeleigh Bed & Breakfast
Tavistock, Dartmoor, Devon
John and Sophie would like to welcome you to Homeleigh Bed and Breakfast. We offer superb, comfortable bed & breakfast accommodation. En-suite bedrooms, choice of breakfasts cooked to order. Complimentary wi-fi internet connection. Excellent hospitality tray. Bathrobes, complimentary toiletries. Ample free parking.
We are conveniently located on the A386, in the small village of Mary Tavy, within the boundary of Dartmoor National Park, giving easy access to the many activities this provides. We are also located just off the Devon Coast to Coast (Route 27), part of the national cycle network.
The house is just a 5 minute drive from the ancient stannary town of Tavistock. The town centre has a wide variety of shops, boutiques and restaurants. The heart of the town is the purpose built, covered, pannier market, a nest of antiques and curios. Additional attractions include the Meadowlands Leisure Pool complex, and the Wharf Arts Centre.
It is believed that Tavistock stands on the site of an ancient Saxon settlement. Formal records of the town, however, date back to 974AD, with the founding of a Benedictine Abbey. The ruins of this Abbey can still be seen at various points close to Bedford Square.
Tavistock is a picturesque market town situated on the River Tavy, close to the border between Devon and Cornwall. It is adjacent to both the Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is (approx) a half hour drive by car from the Historic City of Plymouth, with its famous Hoe and Barbican.
